- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Teaka -- Definitely realistic for many people : I know some readers were put off by the toxic family dynamics, but it unfortunately represents so many people and that's important. I applaud the author for navigating such a sensitive and hidden aspect of what queer and straight people (mostly single women) go through within their families. This is not new and hardly addressed to this extent in media. I loved it!!! Such a sweet book, minus toxicity of course. The editing was awesome! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021 )

The fake dating and horrible family are just part of what helps Polly show Sloane how to set boundaries and feel love. I am so excited to have a non-binary characters and a demisexual character in this book. If you haven’t read this or the other books by Jacqueline Ramsden you are missing out. It manages to address the serious issues of being queer in a family that refuses to accept the choice with the mental toll that causes. But at the same time it has main characters with the strength to find kindness and romance in their relationship. It truly is a very romantic book with amazing characters full of sweetness and grace.
